PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Kreg G. Gruben is director of the Neuromuscular Coordination Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin – Madison with his primary faculty appointment in the Department of Kinesiology. He holds affiliate appointments in the Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Departments.

Dr. Gruben’s research focuses on understanding the mechanics and neural control of the lower limb in humans. This research continues to reveal fundamental coordination strategies that enable humans to retain balance while standing and walking. These models are applied to various balance disorders and to the development of more effective rehabilitation approaches.
