PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY

Dan Timm is a Faculty Associate in the Department of Kinesiology. Courses he teaches include First Aid and Basic Life Support, Foundations of Physical Education, Assessment and Research in Physical Activity Pedagogy, Health and Physical Education in a Multicultural Society, and Socio-Cultural Aspects of Physical Activity. He is co-leader of the Global Health Certificate’s Obesity and Health in Austria course and established an academic component for the course at the University of Vienna. Besides teaching, Timm advises freshmen and sophomore students in the physical education major. His doctoral study focused on the inclusion of American Indian issues in physical education preservice teacher training. He writes articles on culturally responsive teaching in health and physical education and has given presentations on culture and diversity. Timm currently chairs the department’s Equity, Climate, and Diversity Committee, serves on the university’s Campus Diversity and Climate Committee, and is the College/University Division Vice President for Wisconsin Health and Physical Education.
