A northern California native, Joshua graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in social sciences in 2003 and a master’s degree in occupational therapy in 2005. After practicing for several years, he returned to USC in pursuit of a Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree, which he completed in 2013. Joshua’s doctoral work focused on utilizing drama as a therapeutic tool to address social skills challenges in children with mental health diagnoses. Joshua is also a graduate of the California Interdisciplinary Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disorders (CA-LEND) fellowship located at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He has presented locally, nationally, and internationally on topics including sensory integration, OT’s role in addressing complex feeding challenges, fine motor development and handwriting, and the use of drama in occupational therapy practice. Clinically, Josh has worked as an OT in a variety of pediatric settings including schools, outpatient clinics, and hospitals. He’s also provided OT evaluation and consultation in several non-traditional settings including a week spent working with staff in an orphanage in Hyderabad, India. Prior to joining the team at UW, Josh was the Therapy Director at CI Pediatric Therapy Centers where he oversaw the OT, PT, and SLP programs. Josh maintains a small private practice, Stage Bright Therapy, where he sees clients privately as time permits. Outside of his work as an OT, Josh is enjoying being a new homeowner and loves spending time hiking and camping with his husband Aaron and their English Springer Spaniel, Gunther
