UW's Clark named Wisconsin Athletic Trainers Association’s Outstanding Educator

April 12, 2017

UW-Madison’s Shari Clark will receive the Wisconsin Athletic Trainers Association’s (WATA) Outstanding Educator Award. This honor recognizes a member of the WATA for their outstanding contribution to the education of athletic trainers and athletic training students in Wisconsin.

The award will be presented at a luncheon on April 14 in conjunction with the WATA Annual Symposium in the Wisconsin Dells.

Clark is an associate faculty associate with the Department of Kinesiology and the clinical education coordinator for its Athletic Training Program.

Shari Clark
"Shari is an amazing mentor to our students and is an outstanding instructor who challenges our students and fosters tremendous critical thinking," says UW-Madison’s Andy Winterstein, who heads UW-Madison's Athletic Training Program. “Her real-world clinical experience allows her to provide countless authentic learning opportunities for our AT students."

Clark’s nomination was initiated by a student and supported by the Athletic Training Program’s entire faculty and staff.  In all, 75 current students, staff, preceptors, alumni and friends offered their names in support of her nomination.

“The outpouring of support from students and alumni was very sweet; it shows the impact of her efforts beyond the any one course," says Winterstein.

UW-Madison’s Athletic Training Program is housed within the School of Education’s Department of Kinesiology.
