The Kinesiology Diversity, Climate, and Equity Workgroup has been working hard to provide a few ways for our community to participate in self-care virtually since we cannot be together physically.
During these unprecedented times, many people report feeling unsafe, anxious or uncertain. Mindfulness practice can provide tools to feel calmer and safer, along with supporting your engaged activity in the world. Thanks to generous support from the Kinesiology department, we have arranged for Mindfulness Meditation sessions on Sundays at 6pm on the following dates: Sept 27, Oct 4, and Oct 11. Please stay tuned to see if we will be able to offer additional sessions after these.
Each session will last approximately 30 minutes (sessions will be posted here afterwards for those who cannot attend). These sessions will be led by Scott Anderson. Scott is a collaborator at the Center for Healthy Minds, teaches mindfulness to UW student-athletes, and is an instructor in the Student Flourishing Initiative. If you know someone who could benefit from these sessions, please feel free to invite them.
If you have questions regarding these sessions, or would like to inquire about participation, please reach out to Stephanie Trigsted.
