Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) Program
General Description
The UW-Madison Master of Science-Occupational Therapy (MS-OT) Program is an entry-level master's degree program offered to students who have previously completed a bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university. With an emphasis on research and evidenced-based practice, the program prepares students for clinical practice in occupational therapy. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to complete the certification exam administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). The MS-OT Program includes 61 credits of coursework related to the biological sciences, professional skills, occupation-based theory and practice, research methods, and the completion of a research project. The MS-OT Program also includes 24 weeks of full-time fieldwork.
Each year, 25 students are admitted to the MS-OT Program. The program begins in summer (early June) and continues through the subsequent four (fall and spring) semesters. The final portion of the program includes six months of full-time fieldwork ending in December, so the length of the program is roughly two and a half years.
See curriculum section and admission criteria, tuition, scholarships, financial aid for specifics. View the NBCOT examination pass rates on the Accreditation and Certification page.
